International Conference on Pain and Chemical Dependency (ICPCD)
October 29 - November 1, 2008

Loews Philadelphia Hotel
Philadelphia, PA

The International Conference on Pain & Chemical Dependency (ICPCD) will take place October 29 - November 1, 2008 in Philadelphia. This will be the eighth in a series of conferences designed to show the interface between pain management and chemical dependency and how this relationship often plays a role in the undertreatment of pain, both acute and chronic.

Upon completion of the activities, participants should be better able to:

  • Promote appropriate and effective treatment for all patients with pain, including individuals with substance abuse, mental health, or other co-occurring problems that may make treatment more challenging.
  • Utilize strategies and practices that decrease the misuse or diversion of controlled substances, supporting their appropriate use in medical care.
  • Support healthcare professionals who undertake the difficult and sometimes controversial work of appropriate prescribing of controlled substances, such as opioid medications for patients with acute or chronic pain.

Attendees can receive CME, CPE (pharmacists), or nursing CE credits.

For information about the preliminary program, registration, and housing, please visit the IAPCD website.
