A module on the complex interface between pain and chemical dependency.
The treatment of pain with controlled prescription drugs, such as opioids,
requiries an understanding of the issues surrounding protential abuse,
addiction, and diversion. These issues take on particular prominence when
analgesic therapy is required by patients known to have the comorbidity
of addiction. Management requires skills in risk assessment, diagnosis,
and the management of problematic drug-related behaviors. (Coming soon.)
