Thank you for visiting our site. This website is operated by the Department of Pain
Medicine and Palliative Care at Beth Israel Medical Center, New York.
Since your privacy is of utmost importance to us, and we want you to
feel comfortable viewing our caregiver information and using our interactive
services, we would like you to know more about the information we gather
from visitors to our homepage. Please review this document, so you can
fully understand the terms and conditions under which we capture and use
that information.
This Privacy Policy applies only to this site and our online products.
Some of the links on our site connect to other web sites. Once you exit
this site and enter another web site, please be aware that any information
you disclose on or through those sites, or to those regional and national
resources, is not subject to our privacy policy. This site does not endorse
and is not responsible for the privacy practices of third party web sites
to which we link or regional and national resources features in our databases.
You should always review the privacy policy for those sites or resources
to understand how they treat your personal information.
By using this site or any of our interactive tools, you agree to the
terms of this Privacy Policy. We will not share information about individual
users with any third party, except to comply with applicable law or valid
legal process. It is also assuring for you to know that this site does
not sell or share any information about individual users with third parties.
We gather two types of information about users:
- Information that users provide through optional, voluntary submissions,
i.e., by email and online survey.
-
This site tracks user traffic patterns throughout all of our pages and
web marketing products. Information we gather through aggregated tracking
is compiled from web site statistical logs of page views, files and directories
accessed, and unique visitors to various sections of the site. Sometimes
we track and catalog the search terms that users enter in our Search function,
but this tracking is never associated with individual users. We do not
track what individual users read but rather the overall performance of
each page. This information allows us to better tailor our content to
your needs and preferences and to help our content providers better understand
the demographics of our audience, so they can continue to write information
to meet your needs and interests.
- Cookies
If your computer allows, we may place a small text file, called a "cookie",
in your web browser’s files. We use cookies to track user traffic
patterns (as described above). Our system delivers a cookie to better
track pages visited and click rates. Cookies also help us authenticate
our users. Most browsers offer instructions on how to reset the browser
to reject cookies.
- Surveys
This site occasionally conducts user surveys and periodical caregiver
assessments to better target our content to our audience. We sometimes
share the aggregated demographic information in these surveys with our
sponsors and partners. We never share any of this information about specific
individuals with any third party, nor do we sell this information.
Consistent with the Federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act
of 1998 (COPPA), we will never knowingly request personally identifiable
information from anyone under the age of 13 without requesting parental
consent.
This site uses an outside hosting company that operates secure data networks
protected by industry standard firewall and password encryption systems.
Our security and privacy policies are periodically reviewed and enhanced
as necessary and only authorized individuals (Continuum Health Partners
personnel or designees of the health care system) have access to the information
provided by our visitors.
If you have additional questions about our privacy policy, please email
us at StopPain@chpnet.org.
