Pain Medicine & Palliative Care: Palliative Care

Corticosteroids

Corticosteroids (also called adrenocortical hormones and corticoids) are steroids produced by the adrenal cortex or their synthetic equivalents. Corticosteroids influence the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. They also affect the regulation of electrolyte and water balance, as well as other functions.
