Health anxiety levels in chronic pain clinic attenders

Investigators studied the occurrence of health anxiety in 161 patients in a chronic pain clinic [via questionnaire]. Approximately 36.7% had health anxiety and 51.1% had severe and disabling health anxiety. High levels of health anxiety may be very common among chronic pain patients. This finding indicates the potential value of an application of the cognitive-behavioral health anxiety model to highly health-anxious pain clinic patients. Rode S, Salkovskis P, Dowd H, Hanna M.
