Pauline Lesage, MD, LLM is a full-time attending physician in the Department
of Pain Medicine and Palliative Care and is Associate Professor of Medicine
on the faculty of Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She is a recognized
expert in the fields of palliative and hospice care, legal medicine
and bioethics. Dr. Lesage has authored articles ranging from cancer
pain management and palliative or end-of-life care to such topics as
ethical and organizational aspects of medical practice. She is the author
of a book on patient consent to medical care and the role of full disclosure
and is an international lecturer.
Dr. Lesage provides consultations for patients with acute or chronic
pain syndromes or those needing better symptom management. She is active
as a primary physician on the specialized Palliative Care Unit at Beth
Israel Medical Center where palliative or end-of-life care is provided.
She also contributes to the Department's teaching program and research
activities and collaborates with the Medical Center's bioethics program.
