This innovative learning module demonstrates the assessment
of a patient with neuropathic pain, the development of a clinical strategy,
and the selection of an initial therapeutic strategy. |
|
 |
In this module, you will review the comprehensive assessment of a patient with
neuropathic pain and formulate an initial treatment strategy. To accomplish
your task, you will progress through three phases:
- First, you will assess the patient by reviewing the history
prior to the present pain complaint and then the history of the present
illness. To guide your assessment, you will have access to expert opinions
concerning the patient specifically, and didactic content relating to pain
assessment in general.
- Next, you will formulate an initial treatment strategy
by selecting from a list of possible treatments. As you make your formulation,
you will have access to expert opinions, commentary, and descriptions of
each treatment option presented.
- Finally, you will receive feedback on each of your selected treatments.
You will have the option to revise and resubmit your treatment
plan, but the system does not require it.
