Marco Pappagallo, MD

Marco Pappagallo, MD, is the Director of the Hospital for Joint Diseases, Comprehensive Pain Treatment Center, at Mt Sinai/NYU Health in New York, New York. He is also Associate Professor of Clinical Neurology in the Department of Neurology at New York University School of Medicine and serves as an attending physician at the Hospital for Joint Diseases, Bellevue Hospital Center, and NYU Hospital, all in New York, New York.
Dr Pappagallo earned his medical degree at the School of Medicine, University of Rome, Italy, and pursued postdoctoral training in neurosurgery at the Institute of Neurosurgery, also at the University of Rome. He then completed an internship in internal medicine at Cabrini Medical Center in New York, New York, and a residency in neurology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, New York. In addition, he received a clinical and research fellowship in pain medicine to The Johns Hopkins Pain Treatment Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
The chairperson of the American Academy of Neurologys international pain section, Dr Pappagallo also is affiliated with the International Association for the Study of Pain, the American Pain Society, and the Society for Neuroscience. An expert analyst for The Pain Medicine Journal Club Journal, he has authored or coauthored numerous original articles, reviews, abstracts, and other publications. Dr Pappagallo holds 2 US patents.
