Nurse Fellowship in Pain Medicine and Palliative Care

Overview

A one-year pain medicine and palliative care clinical practicum is offered to master's prepared nurses with a minimum of five years experience in clinical nursing. A multidisciplinary team, under the direction of Dr. Russell K. Portenoy, integrates education, research, and clinical programs into the delivery of patient and family care. Preceptors focus on pharmacological and nonpharmacologic approaches to pain and symptom management, end-of-life care, research, education, and quality improvement.

Fellows will rotate through each of the areas of the Pain Medicine and Palliative Care Department. These include:

Ambulatory Practice Pain Management
Ambulatory Practice Palliative Care
