A Telephone Support Group in Spanish
for Family Members and Friends of Patients
with Advanced Medical Illness

Starts February 2005
Wednesdays, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Support groups can help family members and friends of those who face serious medical illness. This free support group addresses the many concerns related to living with a loved one's illness. The group usually numbers between 6 and 10 people who come together to share similar experiences, provide emotional support and to learn helpful skills, such as communication, relaxation, education, and stress management. The group will be conducted via telephone at no cost to callers.

Future groups may also be offered.

Dante Tipiani, MSW, a social worker and group leader, will conduct the group. Other qualified professionals may be invited to address specific topics raised by the group members.

Members will be given a toll-free number to call for group meetings.

There is limited space, and registration is required. Please call Dante Tipiani, MSW, at (212) 844-1713 or email FindHelp@NetofCare.org to register and/or to ask questions about the group.

The Department of Pain Medicine and Palliative Care, Beth Israel Medical Center, New York, is offering these free services through the generous support of the New York Community Trust and the The Altman Foundation.
